CSiS help system: default keyboard layout

default configuration file

the default keyboard layout is stored in a file on your local hard disk. in the unlikely event that your own configuration gets corrupted, try deleting the "Keys.csis" file in the "Data" folder of your CSiS installation directory.

default layout



target closest enemy:
sets your targeting system to the enemy that is the closest to your ship.

target next enemy:
sets your targeting system to the next enemy in your automatic enemy list.

target previous enemy:
sets your targeting system to the previous enemy in your automatic enemy list.

roll left:
rolls the ship to the left.

decelerate:
powers the engines down.

roll right:
rolls the ship to the right.

target previous object:
sets your targeting system to the previous object in your automatic world object list. this scrolls through neutral and space objects, friendly and enemy ships.

target next object:
sets your targeting system to the next object in your automatic world object list. this scrolls through neutral and space objects, friendly and enemy ships.

thruster:
transfers energy to the thruster. adds extra speed and/or acceleration for a limited time.

accelerate:
increases engine power.

weapon slots:
activate/deactivate guns. the less guns you have activated, the less energy gets drained while shooting, but you will cause less damage.

launch rockets:
launch one set of rockets or a torpedo.

eject mines:
eject a mine.

tractor beam:
activates/deactivates the tractor beam for pulling ships or positioning turrets. while the tractor beam is active, the weapons energy is drained and the launching of mines and rockets is deactivated.

score screen:
hold this key to display the current score board for individual players or teams.

send chat message:
press this key to get in chat mode, then type your message, then press it again to send it away.

note that there are special commands for the chat window.
Private chat: /p [playername/client_number] message
sends the message to the given player only. playername or client_number (0-15) can be given.

Team chat: /t message
sends the message to your team. Only available in team-based game modes.

hud mouse switch:
in standard mode, your mouse steers your ship. after pressing this key, your mouse will no longer do that, so you can click the elements on the HUD itself to activate/deactivate weapons, maximise the chat window, and so on.

immutable keys

certain keys are reserved by certain CSiS functions and cannot be assigned or changed.

primary guns fire:
fires all current active guns. left mouse button

select items in space:
instead of using keys to scroll through the enemy/object lists, you can click on the screen to select items as well. right mouse button

join game while in spectator mode:
instead of opening the console and assigning you to a team using the cl_move command, you can press F9 just as well.

console:
certain game functions can only be unlocked by console commands. to invoke the console, press F12.

vote:
vote YES F1 or NO F2 when a server-wide vote comes up.

skip music track:
CSiS allows you to load your own music library with the help of the options tool. to skip to the next track, press F3.

make screenshot:
takes a screenshot of the current game scene. F5

continue tutorial:
in the tutorial, you will sometimes be prompted to press F8 to get to the next step.

spectator camera:
the spectator camera can be controlled from the buy menu using F9 and your mouse.
