CSiS help system: game modes

choose your mode

CSiS offers you 5 distinctive game modes, form simple deathmatch dogfights to complex, multistaged teammodes. game modes are chosen by the host/server and cannot be changed during runtime.

free for all (death match)



deathmatch is a simple dogfighting mode.

after the buying phase, players get launched into the battlefield and try to frag as many opponents as possible. everything that moves is potentially dangerous, so be careful. every target will be displayed in a red frame. a frag (kill) will be awarded one point, commit suicide (die from your own rockets, fly into the sun, leave the battlefield, detonate your own mines) and you lose one point.

when the round time is up, the player with the highest score wins the match. deathmatch is one of the few modes that display actual player colors instead of team colors on the ships.

team death match



team deathmatch combines deathmatch with teamplay. two up to four teams can take part in a single match.

after the buying phase, players get launched into the battlefield and try to frag as many opponents as possible. targeted enemies will be displayed with a red frame, while your teammates receive a green frame at all times. a frag (kill) will be awarded one point, commit suicide (die from your own rockets, fly into the sun, leave the battlefield, fly too close to your own mines when an enemy detonates them) and you lose one point. the team score cannot fall below 0.

each team has its own color, team I is red, team II is blue, team III is green and team IV is purple. all ships will be colored accordingly, your FFA color you selected in the "options" startup tool dialogue will be ignored. the team status on top of the screen will tell you about the current team scores as well as the team cash, as all team members will draw their funds from one combined pot.

capture the station



cts is a station-based team mode that demands defense and attack strategies as well as resource management from your team.

after the buying phase, players get launched into the vicinity of their home station. teammates receive a green target frame, opponents a red one. a frag (kill) will be awarded one point, commit suicide (die from your own rockets, fly into the sun, leave the battlefield, detonate your own mines) and you lose one point.

this mode can be played by two teams only, team I is red, team II is blue. each team has a home station to protect, while the team must attempt to capture the opponents' station. this is done by destroying the three shield generators surrounding each station. firing on the station with the shield generators intact will achieve nothing.



all ships will be colored according to your team color, the FFA color you selected in the "options" startup tool dialogue will be ignored. the team status on top of the screen will tell you about the team cash, as all team members will draw their funds from one combined pot. the glowing quads on the right of each score display represent the number of operating shield generators. if a light goes out, one generator has been destroyed.



a team wins the round when it has destroyed all generators of the opposing station.
